  • What is a Hackathon?
    The neologism hackathon combines the two terms "to hack" and "marathon". The composition of both words created the word "hackathon" at the end of the 1990s. A hackathon is an event that collaborates on innovative software and hardware solutions. The aim of an edu-sharing hackathon is to develop creative non-profit IT infrastructures, tools or software for the edu-sharing community .
    What means #hack4OER?
    edu-sharing is a software solution that is particularly beneficial for education and e-learning. In order to continually develop and optimize the software, we organize hackathons specifically for OER. OER are Open Educational Resources. These are educational materials available under a free license so that they can be used, edited and shared by teachers and learners.

    Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational materials that are available under a free license so that they can be used, edited and shared by educators and learners. Furthermore, UNESCO defines that OER can include not only individual materials, but also entire course offerings as well as all types of media (texts, images, videos, etc.).
